President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said on Sunday from Béchar that the message of the valiant martyrs is a legacy that will enable us to win the battle for development, stressing that the completion of the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Béchar mining railway line represents one of the steps in a strategic and historic national achievement.
In a speech delivered at the inauguration of this strategic megaproject, the President of the Republic said: “Today we are witnessing one of the stages in the realization of a strategic and historic national achievement, long evoked as a distant dream,” but which we have succeeded in realizing, “by drawing inspiration from the mobilizing nationalism that galvanized the consciences of our ancestors and gave them the strength to confront odious colonialism.”
“And what an immense challenge. Our valiant martyrs have thus shown us that great actions are commensurate with great souls,” added the President of the Republic, maintaining that the eternal message of the martyrs constitutes “a legacy that allows us to win the battle for development.”
“Today, we symbolically celebrate a victory, that of the completion of this major railway line in a record time of twenty months,” continued the President of the Republic, noting that such a period “is barely enough for the construction of a high school, which sometimes requires three years.”
Moreover, this emblematic project of “Algeria rising to the challenges” was achieved “thanks to Algerian will, Algerian funding and Algerian managers, with Chinese friends,” added the President of the Republic, affirming that this historic project reflects “an integrated strategic vision aimed at enhancing and exploiting our natural resources and national wealth,” but also at “interconnecting the Great South with other regions of the country.”
The President of the Republic also affirmed that the inauguration of this mining line constitutes “the first step of a structuring national project which will transform in the short term, God willing, this region of our Great South, and will contribute to the realization of the objectives of our national economic orientations towards the exploitation of the multiple riches of Gara Djebilet, the launch of the zinc-lead mine of Oued Amizour in Béjaïa and the realization of the railway line of the Bled El Hadba mine and the mining quay of Annaba”.
All means have been mobilized to achieve the expected objectives in a sovereign, proud and victorious Algeria, which is resolutely moving towards the realization of these objectives, to free itself from dependence on hydrocarbons and to rely on our own capabilities, “thanks to the riches and resources with which Almighty God has graced us in all regions of our dear homeland, but also thanks to the sincere national will, the skills and the know-how capable of carrying Algeria on its own two feet, whatever the efforts to be deployed and the sacrifices to be made,” he specified.
“The achievements made in this large-scale project, including the bridges spanning 20 km and the development of the railway line, could be included in the Guinness Book of Records,” because it is “a true feat accomplished by men who believed in their country and sacrificed themselves for it, and to whom we express our gratitude, as well as to all Algerian women and men, of whom we are proud,” added the President of the Republic.
At the same time, the President of the Republic expressed “his deep gratitude and appreciation to all those who supervised and monitored the project, working in difficult climatic conditions, to achieve this great success.”
“To all the skilled workers and professionals involved in managing the project, as well as to our Chinese friends, I extend my thanks, as we experience these historic moments in the journey of the challenge we are taking on with Algerian skills,” the President of the Republic said at the end of his speech.
