On October 24, the UN, that den of bandits, will commemorate the 80th anniversary of its founding.

After bombarding several European countries and dropping two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States, along with several other countries, formalized the institutionalization of the United Nations (UN), the culmination of a project developed in August 1941 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. According to the Atlantic Charter, the UN must “serve to maintain international peace and security.” In other words, the UN was founded in the spirit of “Never again!”

On that historic day, US Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge declared: “The creation of the UN is not intended to take us to heaven, but to save us from hell.”

Humanity is well aware of the destination (destiny) to which Henry Cabot’s country, the United States, has led the world since the institutionalization of its global hegemony: into the hell of direct wars and permanent proxy wars.

A quarter of a century earlier, in 1920, the bourgeois ruling class, in the aftermath of the First World Slaughter, had made the same pacifist speech, presenting the founding of the League of Nations with the solemn commitment that the First World War would be “the war to end all wars.”

Similarly, humanity knows what happened next. The continents of Europe and America, those artificial consumerist paradises, became hell on earth: fascism, Nazism, Stalinism, stock market crashes, recession, concentration camps, World War II, etc.

One thing is certain: the League of Nations, like the UN, has proven its congenital inability to deal with the world’s problems or to prevent and resolve armed conflicts.

The League of Nations was unable to halt the march towards war in the 1930s. And the UN, following in its footsteps, has been equally incapable of stopping, let alone ending, the endless armed conflicts that have torn dozens of countries around the world apart since 1945, despite its many resolutions.

The UN’s inability to prevent conflict or stop war proves that this supranational institution is an empty shell.

Furthermore, far from being an institution of “peace,” the UN has proven itself to be a dog-eat-dog world, characterized by random and ephemeral alliances, a place of confrontation and rivalry between all countries, whether small or large powers.

For 80 years, each UN resolution has been yet another resolution legitimizing the military actions of the great powers. Each of its meetings has been an opportunity for the exacerbated expression of imperialist rivalries.

The UN, this den of bandits, has been nothing more than a bourgeois organization for which humanity is nothing more than cannon fodder or a source of profit. Its military interventions, carried out ostensibly in the name of law, good, or the higher interests of peoples, have only served to perpetuate an international “order” based on exploitation and plunder.

Ironically, the UN began its nefarious existence with the plundering of the territory of Palestine. It is of the utmost importance to remember that it was the UN, that den of bandits, which created, on the basis of Talmudic myths, Israel, an artificial, racist, and supremacist state founded on the expulsion of the indigenous Palestinian people. And today, for the past two years, on its genocide.

It should also be remembered that Zionist activists, who campaigned during the 1930s and 1940s for the creation of a “Jewish homeland” in Palestine, used terrorism as a military strategy to drive out the British authorities and expel the Palestinians. It is this terrorist strategy that the fascist state of Israel has been using for 80 years to carry out the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

It seems that Zionist Jewish terrorism, first amateur (1930-40) and then state-sponsored (1948-2025), has always had the favor of the UN, since in 1947 it granted the Palestinian territory to Zionist Jewish terrorist activists; then, for 80 years, it granted them diplomatic clemency.

Today, in 2025, the UN, after having been a den of imperialist bandits, has turned into a headquarters for terrorists. It has become a den that welcomes terrorist leaders, convicted criminals, and those convicted of crimes against humanity. These include convicted criminal Donald Trump, who is also an accomplice to the Palestinian genocide; the new head of state of Syria, terrorist Al-Joulani; and the prime minister of the terrorist state of Israel, war criminal Netanyahu.

The height of cynicism is that the Syrian president’s terrorist nom de guerre, Abu Mohammed al-Joulani, still appears on the list of individuals subject to UN sanctions. And the US State Department promised a reward of up to $10 million for any information leading to his whereabouts. Today, however, the terrorist Al-Joulani, founder of Al-Qaeda’s franchise in Syria, is welcomed as a superstar by the Americans. In the streets of New York, he has even been treated to several walkabouts. At the sight of him, Americans, no pun intended, exploded with joy.

So, while the Palestinian Authority was prevented by the United States from going to the UN to participate in the recognition of its state by a dozen countries, the terrorist Al-Joulani was welcomed with great pomp and circumstance. Worse still. The bodies of thousands of Alawites and Druze had barely been buried, these Alawites and Druze massacred by government forces commanded by the jihadist Al-Joulani, when he was received at the UN headquarters.

“Syria is regaining its rightful place among the nations of the world,” Ahmed Al-Charaa told the heads of state gathered at the United Nations General Assembly. Indeed, in an international context marked by the fascistization of most countries, Syria, led by an Islamist reactionary, has its rightful place among the concert of fascist nations. It would come as no surprise if Al-Joulani were soon appointed UN Secretary-General. He was, after all, hoisted to power in Damascus without an election.

For his part, his new ally, the war criminal Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the terrorist state of Israel, also visited the UN, that den of bandits that has become a terrorist front, to deliver his genocidal speech from the podium.

Although accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip, and subject to an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), the state terrorist Netanyahu was welcomed at the UN General Assembly to defend his terrorist and genocidal war.

In the height of cynicism, as the terrorist Netanyahu delivered his speech at the UN podium, his genocidal army, the IDF, continued its ground offensive with impunity to take total control of the city of Gaza, which had been the target of incessant bombing for several weeks, forcing thousands of Palestinians to flee.

The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, announced that at least 70,000 people had fled south in recent days.

This is what the UN is for: from their luxurious offices in New York, its officials devote their time to counting the Palestinians killed and exiled. Or to assessing the extent of the famine ravaging Gaza.

The UN was founded on the ashes of anti-worker fascism and the holocaust of 70 million human beings sacrificed by capital. And it is on the corpses of hundreds of millions of children, women, and men murdered by imperialist wars or capitalist famines that the UN has ensured its continued existence in serenity, in New York, in a country renowned for never having experienced international war on its territory, but which has triggered hundreds of armed conflicts around the world.

The height of cynicism is that the United States, the country that hosts the “peace” organization, the UN, has been at war 91% of the time since its existence. In fact, in 249 years of existence, the United States has only been at peace for 21 years. And in most of these wars, it has always been on the offensive. In fact, every US president has started a war. In other words, all successive presidents have been “war presidents.” In addition to these endless wars waged by the leading imperialist power, the United States, we must include the CIA’s multiple covert operations aimed at overthrowing regimes, which are considered acts of war.

It is worth remembering that the UN also participated directly in the US war in Korea, which cost the lives of more than two million people. Similarly, it was unable to prevent the US imperialist war in Vietnam. Worse still, it facilitated massacres in the Middle East during dozens of wars launched by the United States, as we are seeing today with the war of extermination waged by the Nazi state of Israel, whose leader, Netanyahu, has been welcomed four times since October 7, 2023, to the General Assembly, even though he is under an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The UN, like the League of Nations, was never intended to unite capitalist nations in the service of “peace,” much less the interests of working and oppressed peoples.

In reality, in the capitalist world, there have always been only two circumstances in which capitalist nations truly unite: when it is necessary to wage war against other nations (European countries united against Russia, coalition of Islamic armies united against Yemen), and when it is necessary to crush the working people in struggle with bloodshed.
